Mistakes You Might Be Making With Cuticle Care
This time of year our cuticles can be dry and sore due to the cold weather sucking all the moisture from them. Looking after our cuticles is essential for perfect manicures!
Our nail expert, Lynn Mason, has put together top tips for cuticle care:
- Dissolve away any skin that attaches itself to the nail plate as it can inhibit the nail growth and cause hangnails.
- Don’t poke your cuticles too hard as the base of the nails is extra sensitive and can be damaged. Instead, apply cuticle remover to the base of your nail and leave for a couple of minutes to work. Then, use a cuticle stick wrapped in cotton wool, and just roll back the cuticle. Don’t push too hard, let the cuticle remover do the work. TIP: our cuticle remover also lifts any stains on the nail.
- When cutting off cuticles, don’t cut outside of the nail wall. It is there for a reason! It protects our body against infection, disease and bacteria. Instead, we want to nourish and hydrate the nail wall. Our cuticle cream is perfect for doing just that. Put the cream on the provided stick and apply to the cuticle. Can be used on natural nails, gel nails or acrylic nails. If you are on the go, our Mavapen is great to keep in your handbag to apply to your cuticles when running around.
- Don’t forget your toenails!
