Mavala Launches Essential Guide and Complimentary Hand Health Clinics to Support Therapist Self-Care

Mavala, has launched its helpful guide, The Therapist’s Guide to Nail & Hand Health: Prioritising Self-Care in Professional Beauty Treatments alongside complimentary hand health MOTs and pop-up clinics for therapist teams. It was created in collaboration with Mavala’s nail and hand expert, Lynn Mason, and is designed to help therapists in spas and salons across the UK protect their hand and nail health during treatments.

As part of a nationwide initiative, Mavala’s professionally trained hand and nail experts will visit spas and salons to deliver complimentary hands-on workshops, where therapists can learn how to look after themselves, their hands and nails at work. These clinics, alongside the guide, form part of Mavala’s commitment encouraging therapists to prioritise their own wellbeing while caring for others, aligning with the brands ethos of ‘Care Before Beauty’. With many therapists busy, Mavala believes now is the critical time for therapists to implement these essential changes.

The guide outlines practical, easy-to-implement strategies for therapists to maintain their hand and nail health. From warming up hands before treatments to optimising workspaces and taking regular breaks, the guide provides actionable tips to prevent injuries and protect therapists from the physical demands of their profession. Mavala’s toolkit, featuring products like Prebiotic Hand Cream and Scientifique K+, further supports therapists in maintaining healthy hands and nails, ensuring they can deliver top-tier treatments without compromising their wellbeing.

Lynn Mason, Mavala’s expert on hand and nail care, states: “Therapists give so much of themselves to ensure their clients feel their best, but too often neglect their own health in the process. This guide is a reminder that self-care isn’t a luxury but a necessity, especially in the high-paced salon and spa environment. By taking simple steps to protect their hands, therapists can extend their careers and continue providing exceptional service.”

Mavala’s initiative is part of a broader movement to prioritise well-being within the beauty industry. Mavala urges spa and salon professionals to focus on self care, using the guide’s recommendations as a blueprint for making meaningful changes in their daily routines.

In addition to the practical advice provided, Mavala’s guide encourages a cultural shift within the beauty industry, placing equal value on the wellbeing of therapists as on the quality of treatments offered to clients. By fostering a work environment that prioritises health and sustainability, Mavala hopes to set a new standard for the industry, where self care becomes an integral part of professional practice. This initiative not only ensures that therapists can continue to deliver exceptional care but also highlights the long-term benefits of maintaining physical and mental wellbeing in a demanding profession.
