3-Step Post Sun Skincare Routine from Our Expert
POV: you’ve been in the sun all day applying (and reapplying) SPF. You’re feeling sun kissed but also a little clogged up and in need of some serious post sun skincare. Look no further than the below 3-step routine from our in house skin expert Lynn Mason…
Step one: CLEANSE
“Not only do you need to remove the remainders of sun cream after a day in the sun, but you also need to clean away everything else that your skin would have collected throughout the day, including dirt, oil, and impurities. For a real deep cleanse, which you should be doing every day, I’d recommend a double cleanse. Go for something gentle as the skin as already been through enough that day, like our award-winning Pore Detox Perfecting Cleanser (RRP £13.00), which is airy and light, easy to use and made with care in mind. This soap free formula unblocks pores without drying out the skin leaving the face radiantly glowing.”
Step two: GENTLY EXFOLIATE
“You may think ‘I don’t want to exfoliate off my tan!’ on this post sun skincare step but trust me, a very gentle exfoliation will help diminish dullness and lessen fine lines to keep the skin glowing even longer. Liberating skin from dead cells and revealing its natural radiance, our Skin Vitality Micro-Peel (RRP £17.85) contains an extremely gentle formula that brightens and gently buffs away dead cells. However just to note, if you’re going to be in the sun for long periods of time, I’d recommend only using this product once a week as you still want to keep that fine protective layer on the surface of your skin.”
Step three: MOISTURISE
“Excess sun exposure can be really drying on the skin, especially if you’re in and out of the sea or pool. As your final step in this simple post sun skincare routine, reach for a super hydrating moisturiser to help replenish healthy fats and soothe the skin. Perfect for sweaty and sticky summer skin, our Multi-Moisturising Featherlight Cream (RRP £25) locks in all the skins natural goodness and strengthens the skin barrier. My top tip would be to apply the moisturiser while skin is still slightly damp, to really help seal in that moisture even more.”
