Mary Quant’s Legacy: Inspiring Mavala’s Mini Colours

Mary Quant’s Legacy: Inspiring Mavala’s Mini Colours

Following the sad news of iconic British Fashion designer Mary Quant’s passing. At the origin of a real social phenomenon, Mary revolutionised women’s lives.

Our Mavala Mini Colours nail polishes were born in 1964. The same era as Mary’s fashion take over, and her iconic mini-skirt even inspired the shape of the caps of our bottles.

Although others claimed to be the inventors of the mini skirt, it was Dame Mary. She was not only the power behind its development but who also gave it its name – after her favourite make of car, the Mini.

She said: “It was the girls on King’s Road who invented the mini. I was making clothes which would let you run and dance and we would make them the length the customer wanted. I wore them very short and the customers would say, shorter, shorter’.” Her daring designs spread worldwide.

Do you have pictures of you wearing a Mary Quant mini skirt and Mavala polish from the sixties?
